Create Your Mastermind – Henry Ford Part II

Posted on 21 October 2009

So yesterday I told you about finding sources of inspiration as a way to help you be 100% responsible for your own life. Today I want to talk to you about something a bit more mundane and probably more important.

We are the average of the five people we hang out with most; financially, spiritually, emotionally and mentally. Are you attracting the right people into your life? One way to create a more positive circle of influence is to create your mastermind group. I will have some posts specifically related to creating and facilitating mastermind groups that people will be bang down the door to get into at a later date. Today let me just tell you that people want to be involved with people that make them feel better when they’re in that company. It’s just natural, we like being around people that bring out our own greatness. This is the basis of creating your mastermind group. Be that leader that allows for greatness in all the members and the rest is easy.

I’m just coming back from a Mastermind Summit at Marshall Sylver’s Prosperity Palace in Las Vegas. I brainstormed, supported and was supported by some amazing people (I’ll get you links to their information soon). It was a truly inspirational environment. From this and my other experiences facilitating mastermind groups, let me give you some brief tips so you can start thinking about creating yours.
– Add value – the goal of any mastermind group is to solve the challenges of the members, give as much as you can to the other members
– No whining – do not give members an outlet to whine. Mastermind groups create a positive action-oriented environment and there is no room for a ‘woe-is-me’ attitude
– Accountability – you’ll be discussing ways to overcome challenges. Make sure that members are taking action on the steps that the group has come up with
– Consistency – a mastermind group is a commitment. Do not allow any members, no matter how big the name, that cannot commit to the regular meetings

I joined Bella and Kahlua's mastermind group because they're always positive!

What would you like me to include in my mastermind video series? Leave a comment about what you need to know in order to start your own mastermind group(s). Have an inspired day! I’ll talk to you soon.
